Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Monthly Updates
April 2024
Dear Hilltopper Community,
This communication aims to inform our community on upcoming events and resources related to Title IX policy, process and sexual misconduct prevention (archived communication can be found here). This month, we are focusing on prevention and how each of us can better show up for our community. Thanks to It's On Us Action Week including their biggest event of the year, Take Back the Night, there will be many different opportunities to show your support on campus. Keep reading to get details on all the upcoming events!
In addition to providing established resources and events, we are expanding our scope of content to incorporate other modalities of community care and empowerment. We recognize that such care and empowerment cannot happen without an intersectional and trauma informed approach. This means acknowledging the value of interpersonal connection and lived experience as the powerful tools of social change that they are. In developing a new student-run column, highlighting more student organizations and peer health educator events, as well as resources and services from campus partners, we seek to promote a more holistic approach to prevention. It is our hope that you are able to use this communication as a resource to foster safety, healing, connection, and wellbeing.
As we continue to improve this communication effort, we welcome your input on how to make it even better (reach us here).
As a reminder, you can make a complaint or express concern about a student or employee and it can be anonymous if needed. To go directly to the SEU Title IX page, click here. You can also see our most recent published Annual Security Report with crime statistics and Daily Crime and Fire Logs.
Special thanks to our undergraduate Title IX Interns and Title IX Student Advisory Board for developing this important communication!
Warm Wishes and Happy April!
Sincerely,
Lisa L. Kirkpatrick, PhD
Vice President for Student Affairs and Administration | Title IX Coordinator
